this thread at Win7 is the nnnth time a new user of IrfanView stumbles over this issue.
I must say I'm getting a bit fed up with this. Time for a change.
From the first time I used IV, it was imo a very silly construction.
And I'm sure even experienced users make this mistake once in a while, not to disable this option for the next time.
Already the warning "Please remember" means that the wrong default situation has been programmed.
When closing IV, some settings are saved, others not.
Why not place this warning next to all settings that will be unchanged until next time ?
If one wants to save a picture as grayscale, it has a specific intention behind it for that moment, so a conscious action.
(Multiple file conversion with the Batch mode is another story)
So I would prefer at least to see that this option is disabled before IrfanView is started the next time.
Even better/easier would be if it is disabled before the next Save dialog appears..
