    Standard Automatically showing Exif information

In my 4.25 the Exif information is shown every time I browse to the next file/picture in the directory. I first have to finish it before I can go on. I did not change anything in the default settings. How can I prevent the Exif information to show up unasked?

You are not the first to have reported this but I, for one, have never been able to reproduce the problem. The Exif information box does remain on as you browse but it should turn off if you click on the Exit button in the box. If you do click on the Exif box to highlight it, does either Esc or Alt+F4 close it?

Can you recall how you opened the Exif box in the first place? Was it by pressing E, or through the button in the Information box and did you use Copy to clipboard or anything like that?
What is most puzzling is that it should open again unasked when you start up Irfanview again. It certainly sounds as if something is being stored in the Ini file to cause that but AFAIK that is not a deliberate feature. Even if I leave the Exif box open when I close Irfanview, it is never there the next time I open.

    Wink Exif 2

I downloaded 4.25 this afternoon. Exif box showed up from the start. I never asked for it. Exif box showed up after I browsed with the steeringbutton (right/left) in the toolbar for the next picture.

Esc does close the box, but it shows up again in the next picture. It makes life a little better, but Irfan looses much of its charm, like this. Maybe I should get another download?

I too have never faced this problem.

A suggestion is that you do a clean uninstall of IrfanView (using the freeware version of RevoUninstaller) and then re-install it.

I recommend Revo since it is free: it deletes all files as well as Windows Registry references to programs you want to uninstall.
    Download IrfanView Help Manual from:
    IrfanView Website - Here
    Sam_Zen's Website - Here

Before you do that I would suggest that you check that you have the correct version of the Exif plug-in. It is called Exif.dll and should be in the Plugins folder of your Irfanview installation. The one I have is v4.2.5.0 and is 63.5kB in size.

This is an often asked question and until now it was every time and old version of the exif.dll, like Mij wrote.
