Hi,
Is there a IFV version for the U3 Cruzer Pen Drives? It would be really helpful. Open Office already operates on a U3 version... I've searched the Forum but there was no match.
Tks,
Roberto

This is a FAQ. I don't think you need a U3 version. As explained in Help or online:
Q: Is there a portable IrfanView version (for USB sticks, CDs etc.)?
A: Yes, EVERY IrfanView version is portable. You can:
1. Copy your existing/installed IrfanView folder to USB stick (recommended), or
2. Use the normal installer and install IrfanView to an USB stick folder, or
3. Use the ZIP version and unzip to an USB stick folder.
Yes, IrfanView is a portable application. It can be run from any portable device that you can place the files (and structure if you want to utilize the optional filters). However a U3 version would be necessary if you want it to be called up and implemented properly using the U3 software. The U3 software is a sort of mini-operating system with its own application selection process. U3 is a proprietary process, and it is not free, but it does come free on many SanDisk flashdrives.
While I have some U3 flashdrives, I also have bare flashdrives, and also some flashdrives with the FREE LupoPen application suite, all with IrfanView placed of them. LupoPen is a similar installed application selection suite to U3, but LupoPen is FREE. If you install the basic application suite on a flashdrive you will have OVER 200 applications and games at your beck and call. There are also over 1500 additional free applications and games you can also add to the LupoPen suite. Sweet suite. Some great games too! One of the few games I really enjoy is the old "Asteroids" arcade game. There are a lot of other old arcade games around too. They look and run just like you remember.
On my U3 flashdrives, I have modified my installed U3 applications by opening the installed ".U3P" files, and replacing whatever I needed. You might be asking, "what do you use to open a U3P file?"
I just renamed the file extension to .zip and work with it that way. When done I just renamed it back to .U3P.
Worked for me. I don't know if you can do that will all installed U3 applications, so you are now warned. Also, be sure to copy and save before you modify any of the files.

I wish to die peacefully in my sleep, like my grandfather.
Not like those passengers, in his car, when he drove over that cliff.
I believe so. At the bottom of the download page at irfanview.com, click on Other download sites. At the bottom of that page there is a section called U3 version with a link to IrfanView at u3.com.
